Alan Mickelson - Principal Accountant

​

Alan has been serving clients of all sizes from global Fortune 500 companies to local sole proprietorships for over 20 years. His career started in public accounting working for small local CPA firms in Chicago. Here, he gained experience working directly with business owners helping them understand and overcome their financial challenges. This included everything from creating new entities and filing business license applications to preparing monthly accounting reports and sales tax returns. He was also responsible for preparing income tax returns for all types of companies and individuals.  From that beginning, Alan joined a 15 member tax department for a mid-sized agricultural manufacturing company in western Illinois. Here, he honed his skills researching tax issues and preparing corporate consolidate returns as well as state filings.

Seeing an unfulfilled market for tax technology services, Alan joined Deloitte to assist client tax departments to utilize technology more efficiently.  When Alan joined Dell in 2003, he combined his tax and technology experience to implement the company's tax preparation software and assist in the preparation of federal and state tax returns. He also gained experience working with the IRS responding to audit inquires.

With a passion to serve multiple clients, Alan returned to public accounting in 2006.  This time his roles spanned across multiple areas of tax from compliance to process improvement and technology implementations.  He started this firm in 2017 to combine his local firm roots with industry and Big 4 experience to bring a new perspective and a focus on process efficiency to companies of all sizes.
